Specialty Oligomers for Adhesion
Formulators of cure-in-place coatings for inks, adhesives and electronics need an oligomer that satisfies a range of performance requirements. Sartomer understands the importance of helping formulators find the right oligomers that promote fast cure speed and excellent adhesion for a variety of applications.
That's why Sartomer offers Sarbox® specialty oligomers that provide a broad range of viscosities, physical properties, and cure performance.
High performance product highlights:
- offering improved performace in electronics, inks, coatings, adhesives, and plastisol applications
- high molecular weight
- high viscosity
- reactive materials that can be cured (polymerized) using any of several free-radical mechanisms, including EB, UV, and peroxide
Key determinants of Sarbox® specialty oligomer performance lie in the structural elements of the molecule. They are anhydride and carboxylic acid-containing aromatic acid acrylate and methacrylate half ester blends in solvent or monomer. Acrylation provides the unsaturation or the (C=C) group to the oligomer.
Diluents, particularly multifunctional acrylate monomers, typically are used to reduce viscosity to manageable levels and to provide crosslinking. Additionally, the wide variety of available monomer types provide selective enhancement to adhesion, substrate wetting, flow out, cure rate, hardness, and other desired properties. Sartomer provides Sarbox® specialty oligomers as blends in a variety of monomers and solvents.
Sarbox specialty oligomers allow formulators to:
- Harden or flexibilize the cured material
- Boost hardness, toughness and strength
- Improve cure rate
Sartomer can assist you with the selection of the most effective Sarbox oligomers to meet your application challenges.
