To answer coatings market demands for innovative formulation options, Sartomer developed dual cure urethane acrylate oligomers. These oligomers deliver both acrylate and isocyanate functionality. The reactive isocyanate gives UV/EB formulations a secondary cure of shadowed areas with ambient moisture, which results in enhanced coating performance.
These combined features and performance properties make these oligomers excellent for conformal coatings and other high-performance coatings on metal, plastic and wood surfaces. They can also be used to improve the cure and performance of laminating adhesives, pressure-sensitive adhesives and screen printing inks. They can be used in UV/EB-curable, two-part urethane and dual cure formulations.
Additional benefits of formulating with dual cure oligomers oligomer include coating toughness and pigment wetting for better distribution in liquids. And they offer low color and low viscosity, while also providing exceptional adhesion and resistance to abrasions and chemicals.
Our dual cure oligomers enable formulators to achieve performance properties, such as:
- Abrasion resistance
- Adhesion promotion
- Chemical resistance
- High impact strength
- Scratch resistance
- Solvent resistance
- Good water resistance
